Privacy policy
What Tokenbreak collects and what it never touches. The mod sends which ad was shown, when, an opaque turn id, and a random device id.
Draft. Have a lawyer review before launch.
The short version
- Ads never enter Claude's context, and they never cost you tokens.
- The mod never reads your code or your prompts.
- The only things that leave your machine are which ad was shown and when, an opaque turn id, and a random device id.
- The mod is open source, so you can check every line of this yourself.
/ads pausestops ads whenever you want.
The rest of this page explains those points in more detail and covers the website, which collects a bit more if you sign up for something.
Who we are
Tokenbreak is built and run by an independent developer. It is a mod for Claude Code, but it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic. Questions about this policy go to privacy@tokenbreak.dev.
The mod
What it sends
Each time it shows an ad, the mod reports exactly this:
- which ad was shown, and in which format
- when it was shown
- an opaque id for the Claude turn it was shown during, so one turn is only counted once (it's Claude Code's internal turn identifier and contains nothing from the conversation)
- a random device id
The device id is a random value created on your machine when you install the mod. It isn't built from your hardware, your username, or anything else about you. Its job is to let us count impressions per install and catch one machine pretending to be a thousand.
Those four things are everything the mod sends. The mod also downloads the ads it's going to show, and like any internet connection, those requests reveal your IP address to our server. We use IP addresses only to stop abuse, and we don't store them alongside impression records.
What it never touches
The mod doesn't read your code, your files, your prompts, Claude's replies, your terminal history, or your environment variables. It has no reason to, and the source code is public if you want to confirm that.
Ads are drawn on your screen by the mod. They are never added to the conversation, so Claude never sees them and they never use tokens.
Clicks
Ad links go through a short redirect on our site that counts clicks per ad. The redirect doesn't carry your device id or anything else about you, and we don't set a cookie. After it, you're on the advertiser's site under the advertiser's privacy policy.
The website
You can use the mod without ever creating an account. If you do sign up for something on tokenbreak.dev, here's what we keep.
| If you... | We keep |
|---|---|
| Join the waitlist | Your email address |
| Buy ads | Your account email, your company name if you give one, the ads you submit, and your billing history. Card details are handled by our payment processor, and we never see or store full card numbers |
| Set up payouts (later phase) | Your GitHub username and account creation date (to check the 90-day rule), your wallet address, the device ids you choose to link, and your earnings ledger |
Linking a device id to your account is how earnings get credited to you. Once you link it, we can connect that device's impression records to your account. If you never link it, those records stay attached to a random id and nothing else.
The site uses only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. There are no third-party ad trackers on tokenbreak.dev.
Payouts are public
Developer payouts are sent as USDC on the Base network, straight to your own wallet. Blockchain transfers are public, so anyone can see that your wallet address received a payment from Tokenbreak's payout address, and how much. We can't make that private. If that bothers you, use a wallet you don't mind having connected to Tokenbreak. We never hold your keys.
How we use what we collect
- To count impressions, so advertisers pay only for ads that ran.
- To credit developers for the ads shown on their machines.
- To spot fraud, like impressions arriving faster than a human could produce them.
- To publish totals on our public stats page. We never publish anything about an individual install.
- To email you about your waitlist spot, account, or payouts. You won't get marketing email unless you ask for it.
Who we share it with
- Advertisers get totals: impressions per day per format for their own ads. They never get device ids or anything about individual developers.
- Service providers we rely on to run the site, process payments, and send email get only what they need for that job.
- We'll disclose information if the law requires it, and we'll push back on requests that look overbroad.
We don't sell personal data, and we don't use it to target ads. Every developer in a campaign sees the same rotation.
How long we keep it
We keep impression records as long as we need them for billing, payouts, and fraud checks, then reduce them to totals. Waitlist emails are deleted if you ask, or when the waitlist closes. Ledger entries for payouts that already happened may need to be kept for tax and accounting reasons.
Your choices
- Run
/ads pauseto stop ads. - Uninstall the mod and it stops sending anything.
- Email privacy@tokenbreak.dev to see, export, correct, or delete what we hold about you. Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights over your data. We'll honor these requests from anyone, wherever they live.
Children
Tokenbreak isn't meant for anyone under 16. Payouts require you to be at least 18.
Changes
If we change what the mod sends, we'll say so in the release notes and update this page before the change ships. For other changes, we'll update the date at the top and email account holders about anything significant.
