Terms of service

The rules for using Tokenbreak: installing the mod, earning a share of ad revenue, and buying ads. Written to be read.

Draft. Have a lawyer review before launch.

These terms cover the Tokenbreak mod, the website at tokenbreak.dev, developer payouts, and buying ads. We tried to keep them short and readable. By using Tokenbreak, you agree to them.

Who we are

Tokenbreak is built and run by an independent developer. It's a mod for Claude Code, Anthropic's terminal coding agent. Tokenbreak is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by Anthropic. If something about Tokenbreak goes wrong, contact us, not Anthropic.

What Tokenbreak is

Tokenbreak is an opt-in mod that shows ads in your terminal while you use Claude Code. Developers who install it can earn a share of the ad revenue. Advertisers buy impressions in packs on the website.

Tokenbreak launches in phases. Right now only house ads and the waitlist are live. Paid campaigns, accounts, and payouts come in later phases. Parts of these terms describe features that don't exist yet, and those parts apply once the features launch.

Using the mod

  • Installing the mod is your choice, and it's free.
  • The source code is public. The code is licensed under the license in its repository, and that license governs what you can do with the code itself.
  • You can pause ads with /ads pause or uninstall the mod at any time.
  • If you use Claude Code at work, check your employer's rules about installing software and showing ads on a work machine. That part's on you.
  • You're still bound by the terms of Claude Code and any other tools you use alongside Tokenbreak.

Earning as a developer

When payouts are live, these rules apply.

  • You earn 50% of net ad revenue from paid ads shown on devices linked to your account. Net ad revenue is what advertisers paid for those impressions, minus payment processing fees, refunds, and credits for invalid traffic.
  • House ads pay nothing.
  • Payouts are sent in USDC on the Base network to a wallet address you provide. You control that wallet. We never hold your keys, and we only keep a ledger of what you've earned.
  • Earnings are held for 30 days before they can be paid out, so refunds and invalid traffic can be settled first.
  • You need at least $10 in cleared earnings to get a payout.
  • Earnings are capped per day.
  • Your GitHub account must be at least 90 days old, and you must be at least 18.
  • One person, one account.
  • Payouts to the wrong address can't be reversed. Double-check the address you give us.
  • You're responsible for any taxes on what you earn. We may ask for tax information before paying you.
  • Stripe payouts may be offered later. Until then, USDC on Base is the only option.

We don't promise any particular amount. Early on, most developers should expect a few dollars a month. We may change the revenue share, prices, or caps, and we'll give at least 30 days' notice before a change to the revenue share. Changes never apply to money you've already earned.

Fair play

Don't fake impressions. That includes running bots or unattended sessions to generate ads, changing the mod so it reports ads that weren't shown, running several accounts, or helping anyone else do these things.

If we find this kind of abuse, we can withhold the earnings connected to it, close the account, and ban the devices and wallet addresses involved. We'll tell you what we found unless doing so would help someone get around our checks. Reply to that email if you think we got it wrong.

Advertising

  • Every ad must follow our ad policy, and every ad is reviewed by a person before it runs.
  • You're responsible for your ads and the pages they link to, and you confirm you have the right to use everything you submit.
  • Prices are the ones shown when you buy. Impressions are delivered over time across the developers running the mod. We don't guarantee delivery dates, clicks, or results.
  • We can reject, pause, or remove ads as described in the ad policy.
  • Refunds work as described in the ad policy.
  • You may not imply that Anthropic, Claude, or Claude Code endorses your product.

The component registry

The free components on tokenbreak.dev come with the license listed alongside each component. Use them in your own projects under that license.

What we don't promise

Tokenbreak is provided as is. We work to keep the mod stable and the ads clean, but software breaks and advertisers sometimes misbehave. We review ads, but we can't vouch for every advertiser's product.

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100.

Ending things

You can stop using Tokenbreak at any time by uninstalling the mod and, if you have one, deleting your account.

We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If we ever shut Tokenbreak down, we'll give notice, pay out cleared balances above the minimum, and refund advertisers for impressions that haven't run.

Changes to these terms

When we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll email account holders before the change takes effect. If you keep using Tokenbreak after that, the new terms apply.
